Description

The Barton is a substantial Grade II* listed detached farmhouse occupying a large level plot of approximately 0.5 acres within the settlement boundary of Spreyton. The 16th Century character house was probably the village manor originally, some form of open hall house that had major alterations in the 17th Century. There are significant historic touches throughout the house including small field panelling and some side pegged jointed cruck beams on the first floor. The Listed building notes state: "The ceilings on the ground and first floor are unusually high which must indicate a 16th Century house of high status".

The Barton has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme. The property has been restored to the highest standards using traditional methods. Although restored in a traditional style the property has managed to include many modern features including underfloor heating and a pressurised water system.
